Tips for buying a shower enclosure
When purchasing a shower cubicle you need to evaluate several factors. In addition to the aesthetic aspect we must consider the functional aspect. The best shower cubicle is the one that best suits the style of your bathroom while harmonizing with the surrounding environment. Therefore it is better to choose, beyond aesthetic factors, solutions that improve the use of the product. We must consider how much space we want or can dedicate to the shower cubicle, keep in mind when choosing the type of opening the possible presence of external obstructions, the positioning of the bathrobe in such a way as to prolong the moment of pleasure and well-being without sudden changes in temperature; only in this way will you get the most out of the bathroom environment.
To choose a good shower enclosure we must know its characteristics. We list them below:
• Shape of the shower cubicle.
• Type of opening.
• Box material.
Shape of the shower cubicle.
The shower enclosure can be circular, rectangular, square, pentagonal or a niche door. It can have two or three sides depending on your needs. Obviously when choosing the measurements we should consider the plate by taking measurements on it.
Types of opening. Shower enclosures differ greatly to better adapt to everyone's needs and we can divide them as follows: - Corner units with sliding doors: this type is very useful in the case of small spaces since when the enclosure is opened the door slides inwards taking up minimal space. - Corners with hinged doors: shower cubicles with hinges that allow opening inside or outside. - Sliding shower doors: type of box for a niche with two sliding doors to take up minimal space. - Hinged shower doors: box for a niche, takes up considerable space when opened, but given the possibility it is very elegant. - Three-sided box with sliding or hinged doors: in the case of a shower tray that only rests on one side against the wall. - Folding box: box with folding doors.

A very important consideration to make is the materials the panels and profiles are made of. The profiles can be: - Chromed; the profiles are coated with chrome through a galvanization process. When purchasing such a box, you must ensure that it is done scrupulously, otherwise the covering could fail within a short time. - Painted; they have the same characteristics as chrome, obviously they can be made in the color you want. - Anodized; through a chemical process the aluminum is transformed, thus becoming stronger and more resistant. Anodized aluminum profiles will certainly be the most resistant over time. - Made of PVC; profiles of a versatile and resistant plastic material polymer. Of course it is not as elegant as an anodized or chromed aluminum box but it is an excellent solution and lasts over time.
The panels can be: - Transparent glass. They are the most elegant solution and in a modestly sized bathroom, even closed, they do not fill the room too much. However, they must be treated as limescale stains are unsightly, which is why we always recommend using a good limescale remover which will give maximum results with minimal effort. (anti-limescale link) - Printed Glass C. These panels have an orange peel finish, are very practical and adapt to all needs. However, we do not recommend installation in a small room as it would risk making the bathroom even smaller. - Silk-screened glass. Glass where a drawing has been made on it. There are many models depending on your taste. - Made of PVC. Very resistant as they are made of plastic material. They come in different colors. - Acrylic Less valuable than glass but very resistant. It is suitable for those who want maximum yield with minimal expense.
Scroll wheels. Sliding bearings are present on models with sliding doors. They are used to slide the sliding doors on a track to open and close the box. They can be with one or two wheels. Some shower enclosures have a button in the lower bearings which, by pressing it, allows the door to come out of the track in order to facilitate cleaning in the most difficult parts.
We also delve deeper into two concepts. We have certainly read that there are crystal and tempered glass boxes. What does it mean? When we talk about tempered glass we mean a sheet of glass that has been subjected to heating and immediately after cooling. It is considered a safety treatment because in addition to strengthening the glass, in the event of breakage the glass will tend to break into small, blunt pieces that are not very dangerous. By crystal, however, we mean glass with the addition of up to 35% lead, which enhances the brilliance of the glass.
Now it's time to choose the shower enclosure.
